Srinagar, Oct, 19: In a bid to enhance environmental awareness and promote sustainability among school students, personnel from the 10th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the leadership of Second-in-Command Dalbir Singh, launched a special plantation campaign in collaboration with White Globe NGO. The drive took place at Kashmir Harvard Education Institute, Habak, Nasim Bagh, Srinagar.
As part of this initiative, 25 saplings were planted by students, staff, SSB personnel, and volunteers from White Globe NGO. The effort focused not only on improving the greenery within the school campus but also extended to areas outside the campus. The plantation drive is a significant part of the ongoing “Plantation 2024” campaign by the 10th Battalion SSB, aimed at fostering environmental stewardship and cleanliness.
Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant of 10 Bn SSB, emphasized the importance of such community-driven initiatives, stating, “This collective effort instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among all participants and strengthened community engagement and collaboration.”
The event was graced by Tariq Ahmad, President of Kashmir Harvard Education Institute, and Adv. Syed Junaid Saddat, Chairman of White Globe NGO, along with several SSB personnel and volunteers. Together, they highlighted the critical role of tree plantation in promoting environmental consciousness among the younger generation.
