Srinagar, June 26: In observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse, a rally focused on drug de-addiction was held successfully at Srinagar Women’s College Zakura. Organized by the Debate and Seminar Committee in conjunction with the NSS Unit of the college, the event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.
The rally was inaugurated by the esteemed principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Syed Ifat Ara, who emphasized the importance of a drug-free lifestyle in her speech. She encouraged the community to support those battling addiction.
Participants, including students and local community members, marched through Batpora carrying banners and placards with slogans such as “Say No to Drugs,” “Choose Life, Not Drugs,” and “Support Drug De-Addiction.” The march aimed to educate the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Additionally, students distributed pamphlets containing information about the dangers of drug abuse and resources for those seeking help. These pamphlets were designed to educate the public and provide support to individuals and families affected by addiction.
Dr. Suhail Showkeen, convenor of the Debate and Seminar Committee, and Dr. Farhat Hasan, NSS programme officer, accompanied the rally along with other faculty members. The event saw enthusiastic participation, highlighting the community’s commitment to combating drug abuse and supporting those in need.
