Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg Chicken
  • 150 gm Yellow Chana Daal (yellow lentils)
  • 2 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 4 green cardamom
  • 3 black cardamoms
  • 3 clove
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon fennel powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry ginger powder
  • 1.5 litre water
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying

Method:

  • Take a cooking pot and add chicken into it.
  • Also pure chopped garlic, turmeric, Kashmiri red chili powder, green cardamom, black cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, fennel powder, ginger powder, water, salt as per taste, chana daal and mix it well.
  • Now cook this mixture on high flame for around 6 minutes.
  • Now cover the cooking pot, put the flame on low and cook until it becomes soft.
  • Now cook on high flame while continuously stirring until the gravy gets enough reduced.
  • Now turn off the flame and let this mixture cool down.
  • Now debone the chicken and discard all the whole spice residue and bones from the chicken.
  • Now with the help of mortar and pestle, pound it very well until it achieves a thick consistency.
  • Now make the round-shaped kebabs with your hands and them aside one by one.
  • Take a pan and heat the oil.
  • Fry these kebabs in this oil from both sides till they become golden brown.
  • Your delicious Shami kebabs are ready.
  • You can garnish them with fresh coriander and serve them with any chutney of your choice. Share this recipe with your family and friends.
