Srinagar, Oct 20: Speaker Pro-tem, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mubarik Gul, today impressed upon the officers to put in place all the required facilities and ensure that all necessary preparations are in order to facilitate smooth oath ceremony of newly elected Members of J&K Legislative Assembly.
The Speaker Pro-tem made these remarks while chairing a meeting of officers to review arrangements for oath taking ceremony of newly elected legislative assembly members being administered on Monday.
During the meeting, Speaker Pro-tem took in-depth review of all the arrangements and other facilities for the smooth oath taking ceremony.
He directed the officers to ensure that all basic amenities are established well before time in the Assembly Complex besides other arrangements like audio-visual support, internet connectivity, electricity, among others are also put in place.
The Speaker Pro-tem also called upon the officers to focus on other key areas like technological setup for digital participation and accessibility of other required resources for all members. He also asked the SMC Commissioner for proper sanitation of Assembly Complex besides regular cleaning in and around the Complex.
While reviewing other arrangements, the Speaker Pro-tem delved upon the officers to designate the parking spaces for Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, members and staff of the Assembly. He directed the Chief Engineer for proper maintenance of roads and other spaces leading to Assembly as well as the parking area.
The Speaker Pro-tem also called upon the security agencies to ensure fool proof security arrangements in and around the Legislative Assembly Complex.

Two FIRs registered after scuffle between groups over bovine ‘smuggling’ in Jammu
Jammu, Oct 20: Two FIRs have been registered after a scuffle between rival groups over alleged bovine smuggling here, police said on Sunday and urged communities to rely on verified information instead of rumours on social media.
A minor clash was reported when some cow vigilantes allegedly intercepted bovine smugglers belonging to another community at Sohanjana village in the outskirts of Jammu during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, officials said.
A group of people supporting cow vigilantes staged a demonstration on Sunday and threatened to intensify their agitation if stern action was not taken against the “smugglers”.
Senior police officers rushed to the scene and tried to persuade the protesters, assuring that police have already registered two cases and further investigation is on, the officials said.
Dismissing the rumours circulated on the social media about the incident as “misleading”, police said the officers acted swiftly and effectively, and there was no significant threat to public safety.
“The prompt response from the police ensured that the situation was controlled without further incidents. Two separate FIR’s were lodged which demonstrates our commitment to address any incident/disturbances lawfully and responsibly,” police said in a statement.
The police urged both the communities to rely only on verified information from official sources and to report any concerns directly to the police.
“Spreading false information is harmful and can create unnecessary tension within the community besides attracting legal action. We encourage everyone to prioritize facts over hearsay,” the police said.
Meanwhile, a police spokesperson said police intercepted an unusual case of bovine smuggling involving a modified oil tanker in the Jandrah area of Nagrota subdivision near here along Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
During the operation, seven bovines kept inside a specially created cabin were rescued while the driver of the tanker escaped, he said. PTI
