Jammu, Apr 30: Popularly known as Sodhi, Harvinder Singh, a big name in J&K’s sporting scene, has qualified Level-2 Softball Coach Licence, the certificate of which was awarded to him by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (World’s Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Softball).
Sodhi is now recognised WBSC Level-2 License Coach, which is the highest world level coaching license. Harvinder is the Head Coach of J&K Softball and has also served as the Head Coach of Indian National Men’s Softball Team that had toured Japan in the year 2023.
Hailing from Jammu, Harvinder Singh is now the only Level-2 Softball Coach Licence holder in North India and among only four in the country, who has the honour of clearing prestigious Level-2 WBSC Softball Coach Licence Coach. He cleared exam at Pattaya in Thailand from February 17 to February 20, 2024 and received the award certificate on April 27, 2025.
Working as a Physical Education Teacher (PET), appointed under SRO-376 of J&K Government for outstanding Sportspersons, Mr Sodhi was the Chief Coach of the Indian National Senior Softball team for the Asia Cup Softball Championship held at Kochi in Japan last year. Harvinder has the distinction of being the topper of the 2006-2007 batch of Diploma Courses in Sports Coaching Softball discipline, from Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Institute of Sports (NIS), Southern Centre, Banglore. “It is a proud movement for entire sports fraternity of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that Harvinder Singh, Physical Education Teacher at Government High School, Raipur, Satwari, Jammu is among top 4 Certified Level 2 Coach from all over the country, and his service will definitely take Softball Sport to great heights in Jammu and Kashmir said Waseem Raja Khan, General Secretary, J&K Softball Association.
