Jammu, Feb 11: SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre (SMVDU-TBIC) actively participated in a one-day workshop on Semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at JKEDI, Bari Brahmana, Jammu on Tuesday. The event brought together industry experts, students, and professionals to discuss advancements in semiconductor technology and AI-driven innovations.
Representing SMVDU-TBIC, Business Manager Divye Duheta Mahajan, along with students from various disciplines, attended the workshop, gaining valuable insights into India’s growing semiconductor and AI landscape.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. M.J. Zarabi, Co-founder of Masamb Electronics Systems and Honorary Advisor to the India Semiconductor Association. Dr. Zarabi provided an in-depth overview of VLSI design, semiconductor fabrication, and India’s journey in microelectronics. He highlighted key developments at Semiconductor Complex Ltd. (SCL) since its inception in 1976, such as the evolution from 3-micron to 0.28-micron technology, advancements in night vision components, and the establishment of DRDO’s Gallium Arsenide Enabling Technology Centre (GAETEC). He also underscored India’s growing focus on compound semiconductors as a catalyst for future innovation.
Adding to the discussion, Susheel Jalali, COO of R&Z Technologies LLP, emphasised the significance of design-led Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and AI, while Dr. B.L. Raina, Advisor & Head of Education Program Development at IBM & Datagami, provided valuable insights into emerging industry trends and future opportunities. The event served as an eye-opener for participants, encouraging them to explore career prospects in semiconductor design and AI technologies. The delegation also gained a deeper understanding of Government of India initiatives aimed at advancing semiconductor design and manufacturing.
Expressing appreciation, Dr. Sanjay Mohan, CEO of SMVDU-TBIC, extended his gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, for facilitating participation in such knowledge-driven events. He reiterated SMVDU-TBIC’s commitment to fostering industry-academia collaboration, empowering students with cutting-edge technological exposure, and promoting engagement in high-growth innovation sectors.
