Srinagar, Jan 25: The two-months intensive Hands-on training on “Bio-pesticide Protection” got underway at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir at its Shalimar Campus.
The program is being organized by Division of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Horticulture under HADP project Minimization of Pesticide Use in Agriculture. Approximately 60 participants from all the 10 districts of the valley are taking part in the training program.
The Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who was the chief guest at the inaugural session, emphasized the importance of skill-based hands-on training programs aimed at grooming the youth towards entrepreneurship. He advised the participants to make full use of the upcoming training sessions to gain the relevant skills for becoming successful entrepreneurs.
Director Extension SKUAST-K, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, highly appreciated the participation of youth, especially the women participants, from different corners of the valley and emphasized the benefits of such training programs for the youth and potential entrepreneurs.
The Dean Faculty of Horticulture SKUAST-K, Prof. Shabir Ahmad Wani, spoke about the usefulness of the training program for the participants, as it enables them to acquire hands-on technical know-how of different processes and techniques involved in biopesticide production. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Padder, Associate Prof. formally welcomed the participants, Dr. Tariq Rasool, the course director, gave a brief overview of the training program and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. M. Najeeb Mughal.
