Srinagar, Apr 08: KVK Budgam organized Field Day on Brown Sarson under Oil Seed Model Village at Palar Budgam today, on 08/04/2025. The main objective of the Programme was to demonstrate the
farmers about high yielding variety Shalimar Sarson 2 so that the farmers could witness the Performance of the high yielding variety in comparison to local land races. Programme was
attended by 25 farmers.
The Scientists of KVK Budgam and the farmers interacted and the feedback from the farmers were taken. The farmers were very much satisfied with the crop growth and were thankful to the KVK Budgam for providing the seed of HYV of Sarson free of cost along with all the critical inputs like Vermicompost, Gypsum, herbicides, insecticides etc. at proper time. Scientists from KVK Budgam regularly monitored the performance of SS-2 variety at various crop growth stages from sowing till flowering. The farmers were also advised to share the seed with the fellow farmers after harvest for its wider adoption so that the whole village could adopt the new variety of Brown Sarson for maximum benefits.
