Srinagar, Dec 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday produced a charge sheet at Police Station Pampore before the NIA Court Srinagar against four accused involved in killing of SI (M) Farooq Ahmad on 18th June this year.
A police official said Special Investigating Unit (SIU) Awantipora produced a produced charge sheet in case FIR No. 71/2022 of Police Station Pampore before the Court of NIA Srinagar related to the killing of SI (M) Farooq Ahmad resident of Samboora on 18th June 2022.
The accused were identified by Police as Owais Mushtaq Gani son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie resident of Samboora and killed terrorist Majid Nazir (terror outfit Al-Badr) son of Nazir Ahmad Wani resident of LadhooPampore.
“Besides, challan against 02 juvenile accused (name withheld) was produced before the court of Juvenile Justice Board Pulwama for their involvement in the instant case,” he said.
The official said during the course of investigation, various suspects were called for questioning from time to time. On 24th June 2022, one suspect namely Owais Mushtaq Ganie confessed his involvement in the commission of crime, he said.
The official said on Ganie’s disclosure, two juveniles (name withheld) were also arrested for their active involvement and role in the killing of the police officer along with one active militant of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr Majid Nazir resident of LadhooPampore.
“During the course of investigation, it came to forth that all the three accused were active terrorist associates of Al-Badar and were in constant touch with the slain terrorist Majid Nazir Wani who gave them arms and ammunition to carry out the attacks on soft targets,” he said.
As per Police, it is pertinent to mention that said terrorist Majid was involved in the commission of instant crime and was killed by a joint operation at Tujan area of Pulwama on 21st June this year.
“On the basis of evidence gathered prima-facie offenses punishable under relevant sections of law for commission of instant crime has been established,” he said.
The official said the investigation of the case concluded with charge sheet against four accused persons including two juveniles, one neutralized terrorist, and an accused person before the competent court of law.
Police recover arms, ammo in Uri
The joint parties of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army on Tuesday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Churanda village of north Kashmir’s Uri sector. This was revealed by the concerned officials .
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that following inputs about the presence of ammunition in village Churanda in Uri sector, a joint CASO was launched in the specific area by Army’s 16 SIKHLI and Police.
“During the search operation 200 rounds of AK Ammunition, 8 Chinese Grenades and IED material was recovered from said location,” he said.
Meanwhile police have registered a case under relevant sections at Police Station Uri and investigation is underway in the case.
Earlier on December 02, Police along with Army had recovered arms and ammunition, besides 10 packets of Heroin along LoC in Kamalkote area of Uri sector.
