Srinagar, Mar 07: Shab-e-Baraat, the Night of Fortune and Forgiveness, was observed with religious zeal and fervour in Kashmir as the night-long prayers were offered at shrines and mosques across the valley on Tuesday night.
On this occasion, religious places, Shrines and mosques, reverberated with prayers and supplications. Places were decorated and candles were lit at religious places and homes.
People offered night-long special prayers in Masjids and shrines where religious scholars delivered sermons highlighting the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In Kashmir, major congregational prayers were offered at Hazratbal shrine, Chrar-e-Sharif, Khankahi Maula, Dastgir Saheb’s shrines at Khanyar and Sarai Payeen, and other major shrines and mosques.
Mosques in city suburbs and rural areas saw a huge participation from the devotees, who were seen engrossed in thoughtful prayers, seeking atonement for their sins as well as praying for peace and prosperity for mankind.
It is to be mentioned here that the holy night is observed by Muslims across the sub-continent during the intervening nights of 14 and 15 Sha’ban, the eight months of the Islamic calendar.
According to AnjumanAuqaf Jamia Masjid Shab-e-Baraat, Isha prayers will be at the revered shrine of Hazratbal at 10:30 pm respectively.
Lt Governor extends Shab-e-Baraat greetings
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.
In a message, the Lt Governor said: “On this sacred occasion, I convey my greetings and best wishes to the people. May the Almighty continue to guide us on the path of selfless service, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and usher in happiness and prosperity for all”.
