Ramban, Oct 25: Secretary of Revenue and Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Dr Piyush Singla on Wednesday visited Ramban where he engaged with public representatives during a public outreach camp. Various delegations from the district, led by DDC Councillors, BDC Chairpersons, Presidents of MCs, and members of Beopar Mandals, presented a range of local issues and sought intervention for their timely resolution.
Addressing the representatives, Dr Singla assured that the genuine concerns raised would be promptly looked into. He directed the district administration to allocate suitable land to landless individuals for constructing houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojana, ensuring proper verification to prevent misuse of state land. Dr Singla also urged the administration to encourage the development of private parking spaces and identify suitable land for constructing buildings of the Government Degree College in Batote and Ukhral.
Additionally, he instructed the PD of NHAI to examine and construct overhead bridges on the Nashri to Banihal stretch, enhancing convenience for the public. Dr Singla also encouraged the local Beopar Mandal to modernize Ramban’s market to attract more customers, promoting locally famous products like Annardan and Honey.
The Secretary emphasized the need to establish a platform to support women Self Help Groups, enabling them to initiate sustainable business activities. He further directed the CMO to provide detailed information about Ambulance services and other services offered to the people.
Regarding the developmental scenario, Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam informed about the ongoing projects, including road upgradation and beautification in Ramban town. He also shared plans for the rehabilitation of families affected by the Dalwas landslide, emphasizing the district’s progress.
During the discussions, various issues were highlighted, including the reopening of the Awas Plus portal, the opening of the announced Maternity Hospital in Banihal, funding for road projects, forest clearance for developmental projects, and the need for additional staff in schools and health centres.
Representatives from the Municipal Council and Beopar Mandal Ramban emphasized multi-storey car parking, water purification plants, and timely completion of projects. They also stressed the importance of upgradation in health facilities, schools, and road infrastructure, showcasing the community’s need for comprehensive development.
They also demanded relaxation in 70 percent progress on District Capex Budget, Up-gradation of Health Centres and Schools, deployment of adequate staff in schools, shifting of offices of the Executive Engineer, JKPDCL and PMGSY to district headquarter Ramban, up-gradation of Nachlana –Khari road, opening of Trauma Hospital at Ramsoo, up-gradation of Government High Schools of Gundhi-Dharam Block.
