Srinagar, Sept 21: A successful screening test for the Jammu and Kashmir Sub-Junior Ball Badminton Boys and Girls teams was conducted on Wednesday at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. This screening is part of the preparation for the 43rd Sub-Junior National Ball Badminton Championship, set to take place in Rohtak, Haryana, from September 25 to 29, 2024.
The selected players had previously participated in a selection trial on August 24, 2024, at Gindun Sports Stadium, Raj Bagh, followed by a residential coaching camp held from August 26 to September 9, 2024. The screened teams will depart for the championship on September 23, 2024.
The screening test was overseen by the J&K Sports Council’s Screening Committee, which included key figures such as Mrs. Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer; Miss Kabra Altaf, member of the J&K Sports Council; and Burhan Ahmad, a physiotherapy member of the Council. Also present were representatives from the J&K Ball Badminton Association, including General Secretary Ms. Arsheena Khan, Sr. Vice President Mudasir Qayoom, and Joint Secretary Mohsin Farooq, along with other notable national players.
The teams are now focused on final preparations ahead of the championship, with hopes of bringing recognition to Jammu and Kashmir in national ball badminton.
