Srinagar, Sept 27: In a significant development unfolding in the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit, Sanjay Sharma, a bank guard, The Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency on Wednesday carried out raids at multiple locations in the valley.
SIA team was assisted by Police and CRPF, the raids were  conducted in the south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian.
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that predawn  raids were conducted in Pulwama, Shopian and Anantnag areas as part of SIA’s investigations into the killing of bank ATM guard Sanjay Sharma.
The official further said the searches  resulted in seizure of substantial digital and physical evidence like mobile phones, sim cards etc.
“The evidence will be meticulously analyzed to build a strong case against the accused individuals and organizations, ensuring a comprehensive investigation and subsequent legal proceedings,” the official said.
In February this year, Sanjay Sharma was shot dead by terrorists barely 100 meters away from his home in Achan in Pulwama when he was on his way to a local market for a stroll.
Two days later, two terrorists believed to be involved in Sharma’s murder were killed in an encounter with security forces. An Army Jawan with 55 Rashtriya Rifles was also killed during the encounter.
Police identified one of the terrorists as Aqib Mustaq Bhat, who was killed in the mosque premises.
The other terrorist, identified as Ajaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Tral near Pulwama , had initially taken refuge in a house close to the mosque and was shot dead after security forces tracked and trapped him using technical surveillance.
