Qazigund, Jun 27: Director of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, conducted a thorough inspection of the sanitation works in Qazigund town on Tuesday, in preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Assuring the readiness of the area to welcome the Yatries, Masoom highlighted the completion of sanitary work at the camps located in Qazigund, Mirbazar, and specific areas of Pahalgam.

She said that in addition to the staff, over 300 Safai Mitras have been hired for proper sanitation of places for the convenience of Yatries.

“All of the arrangements have been made, and we have hired additional Safai Mitras as well as led cleanliness drives to keep the areas clean. Also, our staff will ensure continuous cleaning drives at the transit camps,” she said.

“For the last 10 days, we have been performing cleanliness drives at the ULBs, particularly on the route or at Yatra lodgement camps.”

Director ULB Kashmir said that municipalities have solid waste management sheds and that garbage is being disposed of in a scientific and in segregated manner.

“The already existing toilet points for the convenience of tourists and Yatries were checked, and sanitation drives are taking place inside these camps. Besides, Staff has already been deployed at these sites, and suitable dustbins and signboards have been installed,” she said.
