Jammu, Jan 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a nationwide initiative, “Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan”, to promote awareness and appreciation of the Indian Constitution among citizens. The program, held on Friday in Padyari village of Jasrota Constituency, was spearheaded by BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia, who underscored the fundamental values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that the Constitution embodies.
The event saw participation from various prominent leaders, including District President of the SC Morcha Dev Raj, Jasrota Mandal Pradhan Balwant Singh, and Sarpanch Padyari Madhu, among others. In his address, Jasrotia emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional principles for fostering a harmonious and progressive society.
“This campaign includes a series of programs scheduled between January 1 and 25,” Jasrotia said. He highlighted the activities such as public meetings, workshops, debates, essay contests, and cultural programs. These initiatives aim to highlight the Constitution’s historical significance and its role in shaping India’s democratic framework.
The contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, particularly in advocating for the social upliftment of marginalized communities, will be a critical focus during the campaign.
Jasrotia asserted that “Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan” aims to instill constitutional values in younger generations while fostering a sense of responsibility and pride in upholding democratic ideals. He stressed that the initiative promotes inclusivity, unity, and respect for diversity across all communities.
Launching a pointed critique against the Congress party, the MLA accused them of misusing the Constitution for their convenience. He claimed that the party’s approach reflects a pattern of “products of hatred” masked as their “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan”. Jasrotia also took issue with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks in Parliament, asserting they symbolize the party’s fundamentally flawed ideology.
Highlighting BJP’s commitment to constitutional values, Jasrotia mentioned key reforms undertaken during their tenure, such as the 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and assemblies, the establishment of reservations for economically weaker sections, and the abolition of triple talaq. He contrasted these efforts with what he described as Congress’s historical disrespect towards both the Constitution and Dr. Ambedkar.
“Implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has long been a dream of Dr. Ambedkar,” Jasrotia stated, revealing that the UCC has already been enacted in Uttarakhand and is slated for nationwide implementation soon. He criticized Congress for allegedly prioritizing individuals with the surnames Nehru or Gandhi while sidelining Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions.
Attendees were informed about upcoming constituency-level public meetings that will feature district teams and SC Morcha leaders, with state leaders as keynote speakers. A grand public meeting under the slogan “Our Samvidhan, Our Swabhiman” will also be organized by the SC Morcha in Jammu.
