Banihal, July 31: National Conference (NC) leader and District President, Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen has called upon the district administration to take swift and decisive action to alleviate the ongoing water shortage plaguing various villages in Ramban.
During a day-long tour of several villages, including Arabal, Zinhal, Asshar, Chachal, Bankoot, Nowgam, and Tethar, Shaheen said he interacted with residents who expressed grave concerns over the acute power outages and severe dearth of potable drinking water affecting their daily lives.
Referring to the water scarcity in Arabal village, he said the residents have been immensely suffering without drinking water for more than a week, which has resulted into a crisis-like situation in the area.
Shaheen said similar reports have been received from Neel, Pogal-Paristan, Khari-Trigam, Ukharhal, Ramsoo, Sarbagni, Tanka, Sarachi, Mahu-Mangit, Sumar, Amkoot, Thachi, Chapnari, Ramsoo, Chamalwas, Chaknarwa, Sangaldan, Gool, Ramban, Batote and other several villages of district Ramban and Gool.
“The ongoing power outages and water shortages have severely disrupted daily life and caused immense hardship for the people, especially during this unprecedented heat wave,” the NC leader said. He underscored the urgency of the situation, urging the concerned authorities to prioritise these issues and implement immediate solutions to mitigate the suffering of the residents.
Sajjad said that in the absence of elected public representatives, it has become even more crucial for the heads of relevant departments to take prompt action. “The administration must step in to address these critical challenges faced by the people. We cannot afford delays in resolving these fundamental issues,” he added.
The NC leader reiterated his commitment to working alongside local communities to ensure that their voices are heard and their basic needs are met. He expressed hope that the authorities would respond swiftly to the crisis and provide much-needed relief to the affected villages.
