Kathua, July 31: Ajay Sadhotra, former minister and Additional General Secretary of the National Conference (NC), expressed concern over what he described as misleading guarantees made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at a meeting of the JK NC Kathua (Urban), Sadhotra highlighted what he called unfulfilled promises by the Prime Minister, such as the promise of crediting Rs 15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account and providing 2 crore jobs annually to the youth. “These promises were used to gain political support during elections but have not been mentioned in recent speeches by the Prime Minister or other BJP leaders,” he said.
The meeting, according to a party statement, was chaired by Ajit Kumar, District President of JKNC Kathua, and attended by other prominent NC leaders, including Rattan Lal Gupta, Sheikh Bashir, Ayub Malik, Vijay Lochan, and Rakesh Singh Raka.
Ajit Kumar briefed the NC leadership on local issues and demands, while Rattan Lal Gupta expressed concern over the recent surge in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Jammu Division. He called on the people to support the NC in the upcoming assembly elections, promising a return to peace and progress under NC leadership.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and Ayub Malik criticised the BJP for failing to meet the expectations of the people and suggested that the party’s policies have been detrimental to the region.
Vijay Lochan and Rakesh Singh Raka addressed the hardships faced by farmers, particularly the lack of water during the sowing season. “The NC understands the issues and aspirations of the people better than the BJP,” they said and urged support for an NC-led government to bring justice and relief to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
