Srinagar, Nov 02: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference general secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar on Saturday expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in Kashmir, calling for increased accountability to address escalating incidents of encounters.
In a statement issued here, Sagar condemned the terror attacks, saying NC has always stood against violence in all its forms and manifestations. “Our party president has time and again denounced violence. Such acts only leave behind a trail of chaos and destruction,” he said.
Demanding a thorough investigation into the recent surge of attacks across Kashmir, especially the one that occurred in the heart of the city in Khanyar, the NC leader said, “The increase in attacks, particularly in such a prominent location, calls into question the validity of claims suggesting a decline in militancy following the abrogation of Articles 370, 35A.”
The MLA Khanyar added, “The Home Ministry, responsible for maintaining law and order through the LG, must address these issues transparently and shed light on the reasons behind this alarming spike. Despite having peaceful elections, both at the local and national level, why are we now witnessing a rise in attacks? This matter demands a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth.”
Sagar called on the district and divisional administration to provide compensation to households whose properties were affected by the collateral damage. “There is a need for a fair and timely compensation plan to be implemented before the onset of winter,” he said.
