Srinagar, Oct 4: In a bid to enhance road safety and save precious lives in the Kashmir Valley, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari has called upon Molvis and Ulemas to play a pivotal role in educating the local populace about road safety measures.
During a traffic awareness program, RTO Kashmir highlighted their ongoing efforts to educate the public on road safety and expressed his desire for religious leaders to integrate these crucial lessons into their congregational sermons at mosques. He emphasized that if Molvis and Ulemas actively participate in road safety education, a positive change is bound to occur. Additionally, the RTO mentioned their commitment to educating students in schools, colleges, and other public forums.

Furthermore, the RTO stressed the importance of enforcing traffic laws and mentioned that their enforcement teams are diligently patrolling different roads across Kashmir. They are taking swift action against erring drivers, especially reckless bikers. The officer commended the decline in stunt biking incidents recently due to intensified enforcement measures.

Regarding the Rambagh stunts, the RTO disclosed that the vehicles involved have been identified, and their registrations have been suspended. Substantial fines have also been imposed on the offenders.

The RTO Kashmir affirmed their dedication to reducing accidents in the valley and ensuring the safety of all road users. With ongoing awareness programs, active involvement of religious leaders, and stringent enforcement, the region will move towards a safer road environment for its residents and visitors.
