Srinagar, Jan 08: A three-day road safety training program, organized by the Asian Institute of Transport Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), concluded successfully at the Institute of Hotel Management, Srinagar.
The program emphasized the urgent need for collective action to reduce road accidents and fatalities.
Key speakers included Shri Mubashir Jan, ARTO (Flying Squad), Srinagar, who discussed global road safety pillars aimed at minimizing accidents. Shri B N Puri, Director of the Asian Institute, presented impactful case studies on road safety measures and shared his personal commitment to funding initiatives during his career.
The program also introduced advanced safety protocols like the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). Shri T. Surya Kiran, Executive Director and former Director of CIRT, Pune, highlighted the critical role of public transportation and driver responsibility in ensuring safety.
Dr. Ajeet Singh, DIG Traffic Kashmir Range, attended the valedictory session and distributed certificates to participants. The training was coordinated by Shri Sandeep Kumar from New Delhi and Shri Umar Bhat, who facilitated collaboration with local departments.
The event concluded with a strong call for implementing international road safety practices tailored to local needs.
