Srinagar, Mar 05: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) projects in Doda-West are progressing smoothly and are expected to be completed within the scheme’s deadline of March 31, 2026.
Responding to a question by MLA Doda West, Shakti Raj Parihar in the J&K Assembly, the government said that under RDSS, funds have been sanctioned for smart metering and loss reduction (LR) works, which include AB cabling, HVDS, reconductoring, and feeder bifurcation/segregation in various districts, including Doda.
The government said that funds are sanctioned district-wise, not constituency-wise. For Doda district, the total sanctioned amount for loss reduction works is Rs 86.28 crore, with the project awarded in September 2023, it said, adding that so far, Rs 17 crore has been released by the Ministry of Power (MoP) in two tranches and fully utilised.
The government added that it is in the process of seeking funds for the next tranche, as per scheme norms.
It further said that the tendering process initially faced delays due to a poor response, leading to three extensions. However, the project was eventually awarded on September 8, 2023, and work has since picked up pace. “12.25% of the work has been completed so far, with progress continuing at a steady pace.
The government assured that are no major delays in the project, and all works in Doda district will be completed on time.
