Ganderbal, May 05: A separate storey of a residential house was damaged in a fire incident that broke out during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Gund area of Ganderbal district.

Sources said the fire erupted suddenly in the separate kitchen of a house belonging to Mohd Akram Sheikh, a resident of Gund. The blaze quickly engulfed the upper storey, causing partial damage to the structure.

However, prompt response by the Fire and Emergency Services, Gund Police, and local residents helped contain the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties.

An official confirmed that a case has been registered by the Gund Police to ascertain the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.
