Srinagar: Kafeel ul Haq, a teen from Ratnipora village of Pulwama district, has won three medals in North Zone sports Climbing Championship at New Delhi.
Syed Mohsin Andrabi, coach of the 9th class performer, told Rising Kashmir that the boy was selected for North Zone Championship after showing promising talent in state level championship a couple of weeks ago where he won a gold.
“There were other boys who performed well but his performance was comparatively better than them,” he said.
He said that sport climbing includes three different activities and he won a medal in each.
“The boy secured second position in Speed and Bouldering Climbing and bagged silver in each,” adding that he had to satisfy with Bronze in Lead Climbing after finishing at 3rd position.
Kafeel was participating in Sub Junior Boys category at 27th North Zone Sports Climbing Championship which was held in New Delhi at IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) Wall.
Talking to Rising Kashmir Kafeel said that he is happy to have represented the division at National level.
Kafeel narrated that he has been selected for upcoming all India championship and will give his best there to improve his performance.
Many people were seen thronging the young performers house at Ratnipora to congratulate him for winning the medals.
Locals from the village informed Rising Kashmir that wall climbing is a popular sport in Ratnipora village where around 50 boys and girls practice this game with great zeal.
