Promote gender equality: Experts

Baramulla, March 08: To recognize the achievements and contributions of women in the society, Social Welfare department Baramulla in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today organized a day long function at Dak Bunglow here to celebrate International Women’s day.
The event was presided by Secretary DLSA Baramulla and was attended by representatives from Social Welfare, Health, Education, NRLM, DHEW, GDC, girl students and women from various backgrounds.
A comprehensive informative session was conducted where the guest speakers talked in length to educate participants about various issues affecting women, including access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and legal rights. Experts led engaging discussions, offering insights and strategies to promote gender equality and create a more inclusive society.
Emphasizing on achieving economic independence for empowering women, the speakers urged them to take advantage of government-run beneficiary schemes designed to help them establish their own income-generating enterprises.
The speakers further highlighted the significance of women in the overall growth of the society and the role played by them in social, economic, political, educational and judicial fronts.
Later, various educational items including school bags, stationery kits, competitive exam books and baby kits were distributed among young girls.

Awareness prog held in Kulgam
Kulgam, March 08: In observance of International Women’s Day, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Kulgam today organized a series of events to celebrate this significant occasion.
In this connection, a day-long felicitation cum awareness programme was also held at the Auditorium Hall of Mini Secretariat, here which was attended by officers and officials from the DHEW, Social Welfare Department Kulgam and One Stop Centre Kulgam.
Distinguished speakers at the event passionately urged the community to actively participate in empowering women and emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment and resolve towards women’s empowerment.
The program served as a platform to inspire collective action and support for gender equality and women’s rights.
As a gesture of encouragement, kits were distributed among women achievers and lactating women who recently welcomed baby girls.
During the programme, participants were also informed about various government schemes and programmes aimed at promoting the welfare of women.
The event concluded with a rally, marking the culmination of the day’s activities.
