Srinagar, June 24: Prominent socio-political activist Molvi Mohammad Akbar Zohda along with his supporters joined the National Conference in a formal event held in Banihal on Monday.
The induction ceremony was attended by National Conference leader and district president, Ramban Sajjad Shaheen, who welcomed the activists into the party’s ranks.
Shaheen emphasized the importance of socio-political leaders in contributing to a harmonious and equitable society. He expressed confidence that the new incumbents would bring valuable insights and energy to the National Conference’s mission.
Sajjad said, “A realisation has dawned on the people that there is no alternative to National Conference and the party alone can represent the social, political and economic aspirations and multifarious problems effectively and single-mindedly of the people of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He said J&K is going through “very difficult times” and it is the people who have an important and valuable role to play in addressing challenges. “A decisive battle is needed to be fought against divisive forces, who have taken the central stage by exploiting regional and religious sentiments to further their myopic and nefarious political agenda,” he said.
Shaheen exhorted the people to strengthen the National Conference at the grassroots level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting no reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.
