Baramulla, Dec 04: Locals of Yadipora (D) in Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are grappling with power woes despite the installation of a new transformer. The reason is the absence of crucial power connections.
Locals said they are facing extreme difficulties as the power department has yet to set up two additional poles to link the 1100 transmission electric line with the recently installed transformer near Government Middle School.
Despite completing all formalities for the new transformer in 2022, the oversight in connecting it to the necessary infrastructure has resulted in an electricity blackout for the whole of Yadipora area.
Residents said that to charge mobile phones and other electronic items, they have to visit other localities, which is hindering their daily progress.
Yadipora Palhallan falls under the jurisdiction of Pattan, and the lack of power supply has become a pressing issue for the residents. They have urged swift action from the concerned authorities to rectify the situation and ensure the timely connection of the transformer to the power grid.
Locals said the efforts to reach out to the power department for action on the matter have been met with silence. They have appealed to the Power Development Department (PDD) and local administration for the swift resolution of power woes in the area.
