Poonch, Feb 02: The Poonch division of the roads and buildings (R&B) department has successfully provided road connectivity to several villages in the Poonch district. This achievement comes after the government approved 18 projects, totaling 52.50 kilometres of roads.
According to officials, these projects fall under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in Nabard consisting of 18 projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 69.72 crores. These projects cover four blocks, namely Poonch, Nangali Sahib Sian Baba, Loran, and Mandi, which include numerous previously unconnected villages.
In the years 2023–24, one road with a length of two kilometres has already been completed. Additionally, four more roads, spanning 9 kilometers, are expected to be completed by the end of the financial year 2023-2024.
The construction work on the remaining roads is currently underway. The objective is to ensure proper road connectivity for various previously unconnected villages with the Poonch district headquarters throughout the year, officials said.
“We are dedicated to completing the construction of these 52.50 kilometres of roads by 2024-2025. Once properly completed, it will greatly benefit the numerous unconnected villages in the Poonch district, allowing transportation facilities to reach these villages for the first time,” official said.
