Poonch, July 15: In a significant achievement for law enforcement, the District Police Poonch Tuesday apprehended a notorious absconder, Basharat Hussain, who had been evading arrest for several years in a serious criminal case.The arrest was made by the alert team of the Border Police Post (BPP) Bandichechian. The accused, Basharat Hussain, son of Mohd Sahbir (37), a resident of Bandichechian, Tehsil Haveli, District Poonch, was wanted in a grave criminal case registered under FIR No. 14/2018 at Police Station Mandi. He faced charges under Sections 366 (abduction), 376 (rape), 343 (wrongful confinement), and 109 (abetment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Despite sustained efforts by the police, the accused had remained at large since 2022, deliberately avoiding arrest and going into hiding to dodge legal action. An arrest warrant under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Sessions Court, Poonch. Acting on credible intelligence and following relentless pursuit, the dedicated team of BPP Bandichechian successfully traced and apprehended the accused, ending his long period of absconding. The district Police Poonch have reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to track down and bring every fugitive to justice, regardless of how long they remain at large or the seriousness of their crimes. The force remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
