Police arrests drug peddler with contraband substances

Ganderbal, June 18: Police in Ganderbal on Sunday arrested a notorious Drug peddler along with contraband substances in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal.
A police official said that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borker a Special Police Team led by SHO PS Ganderbal, while Patrolling at Dudarhuma found one person moving in a suspicious condition.
He was intercepted & during his personal search, Psychotropic Substance Codeine Phosphate was recovered from his possession, which was seized on the spot. The accused was arrested who disclosed his identity as Shabir Ahmad Shah S/O Gh Rasool Shah R/O Dudarhuma Ganderbal.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 174/2023, under relevant sections of law registered at PS Ganderbal & investigation has been taken up.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said accused was previously involved in NDPS Act, Case FIR No.196/2018.
Ganderbal Police requests general public to come forward & share inputs regarding drug peddling in the society & help J&K Police in fighting the severe menace of drugs.
