Budgam, Dec 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that they have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police official said that during routine naka checking at Gund Maqsood near Mehnoor crossing Chadoora, the police party of Police Station Chadoora noticed one suspicious person who, upon seeing the police party, tried to flee from the spot; however, the police party chased and caught hold of him professionally.
“During preliminary questioning, he revealed his identity as Asif Shafi Bhat, son of Mohd Shafi Bhat, a resident of Gund Maqsood Chadoora,” an official said.
He said that during the search, a heroin-like substance weighing about 8 grammes was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot, and accordingly, a case FIR No. 255/2023 under relevant sections of the law was registered at police station Chadoora and an investigation was taken up.
