Ganderbal, Dec 27: As the year draws to a close, the PMGSY Division Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has completed several major road upgrades, marking a significant achievement in enhancing connectivity across the region. These developments are expected to improve transportation, benefit local communities, and support the area’s growing tourism and economy.
Data available with Rising Kashmir among the most notable projects completed is the upgrade of the NHW Kachnambal via Chennar, which spans 3.52 kilometers (Package Number 13-3005). The project, which involved the widening and macadamization of the road, was completed at a cost of 3.29 crore rupees, addressing long-standing demands from the residents of Chenar Ari Goripora. This improvement has not only provided better access for local residents but has also supported small industries in the area, contributing to economic growth.
The upgraded road also serves as a vital alternative route to several popular tourist destinations, including Chhatergul, Baba Nagri, and Naranag. This improvement has significantly boosted accessibility for both locals and tourists, enhancing the region’s tourism infrastructure.
In addition to the Chenar project, several other important roads have been upgraded this year under the PMGSY Division Kangan. These include Wussan Ari: 4.4 kilometers, NHW to Kachnambal via Chinner: 3.52 kilometers, Plang to Hayan via Akhal: 5.54 kilometers and L066 NHW to Gujjarpati: 1.3 kilometers.
The division has also undertaken the renewal coating of the Kachnambal-Chattergul road, ensuring that the infrastructure can meet growing demand and continue to serve the region effectively.
