Srinagar, June 30: Prime Minister NarendraModi addressed the 111th episode of ‘MannKi Baat,’ marking the first in his new term. He emphasised the program’s continuity despite a brief hiatus, highlighting the ongoing positive impact of citizen-driven initiatives across India.
PM Modi expressed gratitude for the public’s reaffirmation of faith in the Constitution and democratic processes during the historic 2024 LokSabha elections, where a record 650 million people participated.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the enthusiastic participation in the 10th Yoga Day celebrations in Srinagar. “Participants from all corners of the globe, including Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, took part in various yoga programs. In Kashmir, youth, sisters, and daughters enthusiastically joined the celebrations,” said the PM.
PM Modi commended Jammu and Kashmir for making local products global. He noted, “What Jammu and Kashmir has achieved last month is an example for people across the country. The first consignment of snow peas was sent to London from Pulwama.”
Highlighting the success of Abdul Rashid Mir from Chakoora village in Pulwama, PM Modi praised his trailblazing work in organic snow peacultivation.
Mir, elated by the recognition, shared his joy with Rising Kashmir, stating, “I am so happy that I can’t express it in words.”
Mir cultivated snow peas on approximately 20 kanals of land, intercropped with high-density apple plantations. Despite unfavorable weather, he reported a successful harvest and decent income. “The returns are higher than those earned from traditional peas,” Mir said, emphasizing the superior market demand for snow peas.
Prime Minister Modi’s acknowledgment of these efforts underscores the potential for regional products to achieve global recognition, opening new doors for prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
