Srinagar, Dec 14: District Administration Baramulla on Saturday directed all block medical officers to conduct a survey focusing on elderly individuals and women in view of cold waves in winters.

The district administration has directed the BMOs make necessary arrangements and compile a comprehensive database within a period of 10 days.

“Whereas, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued advisories, due to “La Nina” effect, that there is an apprehension of harsh winter associated with severe cold wave, heavy snowfall and frost,” the administration stated in a circular issued on Saturday.

It mentions that district Baramulla consists of vulnerable groups like women, old aged people that are susceptible to cold wave and frostbites.

“In view of above, the concerned Block Medical Officer is directed to make necessary arrangements by means of survey especially the old aged persons and women, and further make the database of the same within 10 days from issuance of this circular and submit the same to Chief Medical Officer Baramulla,” it said.

The concerned BMOs have been further directed that the patients suffering due to cold wave shall be treated in the first instance at every hospital and the medicine incurred in such cases shall be available with hospital, to avoid any kind of further casualties.

Furthermore, the Chief Medical Officer Baramulla and Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla have been directed to submit the data of any causality which may arise due to cold wave without waiting for any further communication.
