Wadura, Sep 02: A transformative week-long Peace Education program aimed at fostering inner strength, personal peace, and a holistic perspective on life concluded on Friday at the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura. Organized by The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) in partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture Wadura, the program ran from August 28th to September 2nd, 2023.
The initiative brought together faculty members to emphasize the pivotal role of peace in individuals’ lives and the significance of cultivating this core value within oneself, family, children, colleagues, and friends. The primary objective was to instill essential life skills and behaviors that promote well-being.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, delivered an address during the program’s conclusion. She explained that Peace Education encompasses learning attitudes, skills, and behaviors necessary for successful coexistence. The program drew from the philosophy and principles of nonviolence, seeking to address conflict and violence in personal lives while exploring pathways to transformation.
Peace Education’s multifaceted approach included creating awareness about conflict, providing youth with communication skills, and equipping them with tools to mediate conflicts. The program also aimed to enhance social competences, respect for diversity, and communal harmony while addressing stress reduction among children and youth.
Prof. Raihana H. Kanth expressed her gratitude to The Prem Rawat Foundation for organizing the program, emphasizing its importance in today’s society.
The program’s facilitator, Mrs. Poonam Sherawat, shared insights into the initiative’s significance in the current context. She stressed that peace serves as the foundation of every human being and warned that any deviation from this core value could lead to disillusionment, discontentment, disengagement, discord, and disparagement. Such deviations, she cautioned, have the potential to culminate in unresolved conflicts at both the individual and societal levels.
The week-long Peace Education program not only equipped participants with valuable skills but also served as a reminder of the vital role peace plays in our daily lives. It underscored the importance of nurturing a harmonious and peaceful world for present and future generations.
