Over 4000 devotees leave for annual Kheer Bhawani mela in Kashmir

JAMMU, MAY 26: Amid tight security, nearly 4,000 devotees, majority of them belonged to  Kashmiri Pandit community, on Friday left from Nagrota to attend the annual Kheer Bhawani mela in Kashmir. 
The annual Kheer Bhawani Mela, is celebrated on JyesthaAshtami, falling on May 28 this year, at the shrines of Tulmulla (Ganderbal), Tikker (Kupwara), LaktiporaAishmuqam (Anantnag), MataTripursundriDevsar (Kulgam), and MataKheerbhawaniManzgam (Kulgam) in the Valley. 
Chanting Jai Matadi, as many as 125 buses carrying pilgrims to Kheer Bhawani was flagged off jointly byDivisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, K.K Sidha, on Friday. 
The fleet included 95 buses for Tulmulla, 23 buses for Tikker (Kupwara), three buses for Manzgam (Kulgam), two buses for Logripora (Anantnag), and two buses for Martand (Anantnag). All devotees received packaged snacks as well.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made for devotees en route from Jammu to their respective destinations, as well as to Tulmulla (Ganderbal) and return,” the Divisional Commissioner said.
The yatries were also provided lunch at Ramban, Jammu. 
The Divisional Administration, Kashmir and the Deputy Commissioners of the Kashmir Division have made elaborate arrangements for the comfortable and safe stay of the yatries with adequate lodging, boarding, medical and other allied arrangements of sanitation and hygiene. Nodal officers have been designated for each purpose for the smooth coordination and monitoring of the yatra. 
The Kashmiri Pandits staying in Kashmir are also being facilitated by the respective District Administration for participation in the annualKheerbhawani Mela.
Meanwhile, the devotees expressed satisfaction over the arrangements put in place by the Government and the coordination and monitoring of the Relief Organisation. 
The Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) acknowledged the support of the Divisional Administration Kashmir, Jammu, Deputy Commissioners, Police Administration and the efforts and dedication of the officers/officials of Relief Organisation under the able guidance of Secretary DMRR&R.
