Kargil, July 27: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, has emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in serving the people of the Union Territory. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Kargil, the LG said that every individual—whether a government officer or any social worker —must prioritize service to the people and work as a unified team.”Whether it’s the Deputy Commissioner, the Chief Executive Councillor, or any social worker working in the Union Territory of Ladakh, we are all part of one team. Our goal must be to work together for the betterment of the people of Ladakh,” LG Gupta stated.He assured that significant steps would soon be taken to uplift the region, expressing confidence that concrete efforts for the welfare of Ladakh’s residents were on the horizon.The LG revealed that the government has created of five new districts in Ladakh. “A report has already been prepared in this regard and will soon be implemented on the ground,” he said.Responding to a question LG Gupta underlined the need to put aside all other matters and focus entirely on developmental work. “It is time to move beyond differences and dedicate ourselves to building a better future for Ladakh,” he added.Earlier the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, was accorded a warm and traditional welcome by the Jamait Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil Ladakh at Hozia Ilmiya Isna Asharia.President JUAIK Ladakh, Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi, felicitated Lieutenant Governor with a shawl.Several dignitaries attended the event including Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Member of Parliament Ladakh Haji Hanifa Jan, Executive Councillor Aga Syed Mujtaba, Chairman Haj Committee Ladakh Mohammad Ali Majaz, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Shree Ram R, Former Legislative Council Chairman Haji Anayat Ali, Former Chief Executive Councillors Kacho Ahmad Khan and Feroz Ahmad Khan, Vice President of JUAIK Sheikh Ghulam Ali Mufeedhi, General Secretary Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili, along with members of the Ulema Council, religious scholars, and a large number of public.Sheikh Nazir Mehdi welcomed the LG and congratulated him on assuming charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. He also briefed about the wide-ranging initiatives of JUAIK in fields such as healthcare, education, disaster management, and environmental protection, apart from imparting religious guidance. He thanked former LG Dr. B.D. Mishra for his support in the mass one-lakh plantation drive and expressed hope that Shri Gupta would continue to support such community-based initiatives.LG Kavinder Gupta expressed gratitude for the warm reception and appreciated the role of the Islamic School Kargil in the region. He said this might be the first time a serving Lieutenant Governor has visited this prestigious institution and called for unity among the administration, religious bodies, and the public to ensure holistic development of Ladakh.Speaking on development projects, the LG stated that the much-awaited Zojila Tunnel is progressing well and is expected to be completed by April next year. He expressed admiration for the resilience of workers in challenging terrain and assured that the Government’s objective of doorstep governance will be fulfilled.Sajjad Kargili, Political In-Charge of JUAIK, while welcoming the LG, said that the Islamic School Kargil is among the oldest and most influential religious institutions of Muslims in Ladakh. He recalled how JUAIK took a bold stand against violence during the unrest in the 1990s, declaring armed militancy in Kashmir as un-Islamic.He also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to expedite the operationalization of Kargil Civil Airport and requested the establishment of a Sub-Office of the General Administration Department in Kargil to ease local governance.
