Srinagar, Jan 01: President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharia Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Mousvi Safvi on Wednesday extended his heartfelt greetings to people of all faiths on the occasion of New Year.
In his message, Agha highlighted the “eternal bond” between Hazrat Isa (AS) (Jesus Christ) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as illuminated by the Holy Quran and the Bible. He called for revisiting the essence of divine revelation—peace, unity and monotheism.
Drawing from the Quran, he described Hazrat Isa (AS) as a continuation of Allah’s guidance to humanity. “And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel (Quran, 5:46).”
This, he explained, is a reminder that the teachings of Hazrat Isa (AS) and those of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) are part of an unbroken chain of divine wisdom, leading humanity toward the worship of one Creator.
The Anjuman chief highlighted the prophetic connection between Hazrat Isa (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He referenced the Quranic verse in which Hazrat Isa (AS) foretells the advent of a prophet to come after him: “And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, ‘O Children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you, confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad (Quran, 61:6).”
He noted the Bible’s mention of the “Spirit of Truth”, seen by many as a reference to Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth (John 16:13).”
Agha Mousvi, a seasoned advocate of interfaith dialogue, called for mutual respect and understanding among faiths. Closing on a note of optimism, Agha Hassan prayed for peace, prosperity and spiritual renewal in the year ahead. “As we step into this New Year, let us draw strength from the legacies of Hazrat Isa (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who taught us that true devotion lies in service to humanity and unwavering faith in Allah,” he said.
