Gratitude is an attribute of a realized personality. The grateful person always counts the blessings of God and never craves for more that can throw him or her into despair. In the present age, no one is satisfied with his or her life. Everyone is complaining about the lack of this and that. It has become the habit of people to be ungrateful. This behavior is found when the person becomes neck deep materialistic. When his or her aim of life is to pile up as much wealth as he can, then it is quite natural to overlook the things that have been given to us as free gifts. Beautiful body, house, food, clothes, etc., are given to us without any cost. Instead of thanking God for these, we begin to count those things which we don’t possess. And the result is that the person reaches the depths of hopelessness.
To live a happy life, a person must be grateful in every situation. Problems are a part of life. They come and go for a purpose. Lessons are what they want to teach us. However, we take problems as obstacles and don’t try to look at the other side of the tunnel, where green light is waiting for us. There are few people who learn positive lessons from a difficult situation. They believe in the infinite mercy of God that with each hardship, there is ease. In other words, they take difficulties as steps to reach the pinnacles of glory.
In contrast to this, a majority of people are those who want ease throughout their lives. If a difficulty is thrown at them, they begin to crumble against everything. They are unable to see the blessings they have when in the difficult times. Any type of loss is unacceptable as well as not digestible to them. Or a failure in any sphere of the life makes them to go against the infinite blessings of God and the result is that they never remain happy and die in this faithless situation.
To live a happily life, one has to be grateful. Until gratitude becomes a routine, happiness will not embrace us. So, let us try to be grateful as much as we can. Being grateful increases our wealth and the peace of mind.
