Jammu, March 25: The government Tuesday stated that there are no plans to open new Wellness or Primary Health Centres in the border belts of Hiranagar constituency, citing its focus on consolidating and strengthening existing healthcare facilities.
In response to a query raised by Advocate Vijay Kumar, the Health and Medical Education Department clarified that while the demand for new health facilities exists, the priority remains on improving current services. The department highlighted that a total of 35 health facilities are operational in Hiranagar constituency. These include—Community Health Centre (CHC), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), New Type Primary Health Centres (NTPHCs), 28 Sub Centres and Mobile Medical Aid Centres (MMACs). Notably, around 22 of these facilities are located in the border belts of Hiranagar to cater to the healthcare needs of the area. Additionally, an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance has been stationed at CHC Hiranagar for emergency medical support. While there are no immediate plans for new wellness centres, the government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the existing healthcare infrastructure to ensure timely and quality medical care for residents in border areas.
