Udhampur, Sep 05: Asserting that there is no alternative to an elected government in J&K, the Apni Party on Tuesday demanded the holding of assembly elections to address the growing concerns of the people regarding unemployment, underdevelopment, and grab of natural resources by the outsiders.
According to a press release, the Apni Party meeting was organized by Youth Wing District President Udhampur, Ajit Sharma. The meeting was chaired by Senior Provincial Vice President Jammu, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath.
During the meeting, the participants discussed developmental issues, poor basic amenities in Udhampur town, and villages, issues of clean drinking water, worsening condition of health and education sectors, etc.
While addressing the meeting, Senior Provincial Vice President Ex-MLA Faqir Nath expressed serious concern over the emerging situation in the district where the development has taken a back seat and rural livelihood has suffered setbacks with poor efforts to uplift the living standard of the people.
“In the last several years, the LG administration has failed to come up to the expectations of the people, and the public representatives have been sidelined by the bureaucracy that unilaterally takes decisions,” he said.
He said that the Udhampur town and the rural belt have suffered badly in the educational, health, and tourism sectors. “The administration seems to have been working without a proper road map,” he said and questioned the Municipal Corporation and under-developed Jammu-Srinagar that passes through Udhampur town.
He said that all the growing issues in J&K can be resolved with the holding of Assembly Elections. “An elected government is answerable to the people, but the administration is not. The administration has lost its connection with the people that has led to mistrust among the two, and many fold issues,” he added.
Besides the Apni Party, District President Udhampur, Hans Raj Dogra also informed about the party’s door-to-door campaign and the working of the party cadre. Another participant in the meeting, Apni Party Provincial Vice President Jammu, Shafi Sheikh also referred to the poor road connectivity in rural areas of Udhampur that affects normal life, the party statement said.
Meanwhile, Apni Party Youth Wing Vice President J&K and Spokesperson, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan raised the issue of increasing unemployment which has given rise to multiple issues. He demanded that the Govt should fill up all the vacant posts in different Govt departments.
On the other hand, Apni Party Youth Wing, Provincial President, Jammu, Vipul Bali said, “The unemployment has increased but the LG administration has failed to address the issues by holding a fair selection process on the vacant posts. Therefore, the youth should come forward and join the Apni Party to get their issues redressed.”
