Srinagar, Nov 04: Responding to the persistent requests from concerned citizens and delegations, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has started the night Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) services at District Hospital Bandipora.
The move aims to address the challenges faced by pregnant women during nighttime hours and eliminate the need for referrals to distant hospitals during such critical times, the DHSK said.
After several delegations met with the Director Health, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, appealing for the commencement of 24×7 LSCS services at District Hospital Bandipora, the DHSK promptly instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Medical Superintendent to initiate the services urgently.
With active support from DHSK, the necessary arrangements were swiftly put in place, culminating in the successful launch of the service, the directorate said, adding that the initiative marks the first introduction of night LSCS services at the hospital, and reflects the commitment to enhancing maternal healthcare and ensuring a safe environment for expecting mothers.
Pregnant women in the district, especially those residing in remote areas, have long faced difficulties during nighttime emergencies, often necessitating referrals to hospitals in Srinagar due to the unavailability of local options. Now, the implementation of night LSCS services is expected to significantly alleviate the challenges faced by pregnant women during nighttime hours.
