Kulgam, Apr 22: National Conference State Spokesperson and constituency in-charge for Kulgam, Imran Nabi Dar on Monday said the people here are strongly backing the NC and have rejected the narrative that south Kashmir is a stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He made these remarks while speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of a party function in Yaripora, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, which he had organised. The function was addressed by NC Vice President Omar Abdullah, Mian Altaf, Sakeen Itoo, and other party leaders.
“I am grateful to the people of Yaripora, Behibagh and Kulgam block, especially the Yaripora block. This is the first large-scale political outreach program since 2009, and the people deserve praise for their overwhelming support,” he said.
Dar said the perceived threat surrounding this area has been dispelled. “We believe the threat has been effectively neutralised now as today’s turnout clearly demonstrates the people’s support for the National Conference,” the spokesperson said, adding that the warm reception extended to Omar Abdullah, Mian Altaf, Sakeena Itoo, Abdul Majeed Larmi and others was remarkable.
“We believe that no event of such magnitude has taken place here in the past 14 years. We congratulate the people of Yaripora for their enthusiastic participation, Imran said. “South Kashmir belongs to the people, and we must respect their choices. The people have shown which party they support, and it is the NC,” he added.
