Srinagar, Apr 22: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Monday announced its candidate for the Srinagar constituency.
Amir Ahmed Bhat, District President of DPAP, has been nominated to represent the party in the electoral battle for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat.
The announcement comes as political parties gear up for the polls. With the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat, having already undergone the first phase of polling, attention now turns towards Srinagar, scheduled for elections on May 13.
DPAP is not alone in the fray. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has put forward its young leader, Aga Ruhallah, as its candidate, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has chosen Wahid-ur-Rehman Parra, youth president, to contest for the Srinagar seat.
