Jammu, Sep 03: National Conference is committed to ensuring peace, progress, prosperity, stability and equality among all the sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir, said former minister and the party’s President Central Zone (Jammu, Samba, Kathua) Babu Rampaul on Sunday.
Addressing a meeting at the Old City here which was organised by Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Urban) Dr Vikas Sharma, Rampaul urged the youth to get ready to play a vital role in bringing change.
“The present scenario of J&K has pushed the youth towards depression and anxiety as they are worried about their future presently looming in darkness. Unemployment among youth has also impacted the life of the educated youth who are concerned about their career for which their parents are in a doldrums and deeply worried about their children,” he said.
The former minister criticised the stoppage of the ‘Darbar Move’ practice as “immoral” by the government saying it has adversely affected the business community. “The business community, small traders and commoners are all suffering due to policy paralysis and deep-rooted corruption at all levels,” he said.
Rampaul said there is a “serious threat” to J&K lands from outsiders with the “active patronage of the double engine government”. He recalled the landmark Land Reforms Act “brought in by the National Conference under the towering leadership of ‘Sher-e-Kashmir’ Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, making the poor and landless masters of holdings overnight at the mutation of just rupees two”. How can these poor people part with their precious lands, he asked.
Lauding the “pro-people” work done during the NC rule, Babu said his party leadership knew the ground realities and framed the policies in such a way that people of J&K irrespective of region, religion, caste and creed benefited equally.
“NC reads the pulse of people in the true sense of the term but the present government took all decisions in a hasty manner just to fulfill their political agenda,” he said.
He asked the party workers of J&K to remain united and work with zeal and dedication to ensure the welfare of the common masses of J&K and to strengthen the JKNC party at the grassroots level.
Zonal Secretary JKNC, Dr Vikas Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that it was under NC’s rule that the erstwhile state was among top states of the country. He lambasted those dividing people in the name of religion and region. “The time has come to defeat such forces and strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Jenab Omar Abdullah for lasting peace in the Union Territory,” he said.
