National Voters Day: LG honours officers with best electoral management awards

Jammu, Jan 25: National Voters Day (NVD) was celebrated on January 25, 2025, in Jammu and Kashmir, commemorating the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. The theme for this year was “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure”. The programme was organised by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of JKUT at the General Zorawar Auditorium of Jammu University, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha serving as the chief guest.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor expressed appreciation for the trust shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and commended the Election Commission of India and the office of the Chief Electoral Officer for conducting the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections in 2024 in a free, fair, and transparent manner, which resulted in a record-breaking voter turnout. He emphasised the commitment of the people of JKUT to democratic values and highlighted the crucial role that every voter plays in strengthening the foundation of the republic.
The primary objective of NVD is to encourage voters across all age groups, particularly young and first-time voters, to exercise their right to vote ethically and responsibly. The Lieutenant Governor extended his congratulations to Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Pandurang K. Pole, and other officials who were awarded the Best Election Practices Award by the President of India for their exemplary work on this day.
In a gesture of recognition towards the election machinery for their dedicated efforts, LG Manoj Sinha conferred awards on 29 civil and police officers for excellent election management. Among those honored were Sara Rizvi, District Election Officer Jammu; Sachin Kumar Vasihya, District Election Officer, Devansh Yadav, District Election Officer, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, District Election Officer Baramulla, Minga Shirpa, SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, SSP Rajouri, Randeep, Special Secretary, Nirupa Rai, Special Secretary, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, MD SRTC, Rakesh Kumar Sarangal, Joint CEO, Anil Salgotra, Nodal officer SVEEP, Akhtar Hussain Qazi, ADC Srinagar, Khalid Hussain Malik, Chand Kishor and Sapna Kotwal.
