Srinagar, June 24: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Member Parliament, Srinagar, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has urged the administration to provide assistance to residents whose homes have been affected by subsidence, resulting in structural damage.
In a statement issued here, Ruhullah said the administration must promptly address the issue and offer support to those impacted by this unfortunate situation. He emphasised the urgent need for temporary housing for the affected families while they work to address the damage to their homes.
“It is crucial for the administration to provide all available assistance as they are facing a dire situation. Expert guidance from NIT should be sought for the necessary remedial measures. Time is of the essence, and the government must act swiftly to ensure the safety and well-being of these families,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Constituency In-Charge of Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, conducted a rapid assessment of the affected areas and evaluated the current situation. “Mysterious cracks have been appearing in residential houses in Khwajapura Surteng, Rainawari. Upon visiting the area for an on-site assessment, I discovered that eight families are affected and have nowhere to go,” he said.
Sadiq added, “Urgent action is needed from the administration, particularly the DC Srinagar, to provide these families with temporary accommodation until they can resolve the issues with their damaged homes. It is crucial that all possible assistance is extended as these families are in a critical situation.”
