Meets with FBO associations
Ganderbal, June 24: Commissioner FDA, Hashmat Ali Yatto on Monday inaugurated the License/Registration Mela in Ganderbal, which was attended by over 100 Food Business Operators (FBOs). The event also featured an interactive meeting between the Commissioner and the various FBO Associations in the district.
The meeting was attended by a team consisting of Joint Commissioner Food Safety, Sanjeev Kumar; Deputy Commissioner Food Safety ICLC Kashmir, Shagoofa Jalal; State Nodal Officer, Firdous Ahmad; and Designated Officers from Food Safety in district Ganderbal.
The FBOs set up stalls to showcase their indigenous products, including fortified foods, to consumers and attendees. Discussions were held on various issues raised by representatives of Food Business Operators, including manufacturers, retailers, hotel and restaurant associations.
An open question-and-answer session was also held to respond to queries from FBOs and consumers. The FBOs were informed about the latest amendments made in the FSS Act, 2006, including the provision of “Tatkal License/Registration” and other rules and regulations made thereunder. They were advised to strictly adhere to the guidelines and advisory issued.
Commissioner FDA stressed the crucial role of FBOs as major stakeholders in the implementation of food regulations. He reiterated that the priority is to ensure safe and wholesome food for consumers, but collaboration among all stakeholders is necessary to achieve this goal.
The commissioner presented 44 licenses and registrations to applicant FBOs who participated in the License/Registration Mela.
