Srinagar,July 02: In a landmark event at Tagore Hall, a grand historical conference witnessed the launch of “Tehreek e Dawat Tasawwuf,” a movement dedicated to the protection and revival of Sufism in Jammu and Kashmir.
This significant initiative, spearheaded by Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, Chairman of Kashmir Society International, and Moulana Adil Noorani, President of Faizan e Mustafa, aims to uphold the 700-year-old mission of the revered Sufi saints of Kashmir.
The conference saw the gathering of distinguished SajadahNisheens from prominent shrines including Chrar Sharief, Dastagir Sahib, Makhdoom Sahib, Tujar Sharief, Bulbulshah, and Shah Hamdan. Alongside them were esteemed scholars, Muftis, Mujawirs, and Imams from various fiqhs, all of whom took an oath to work for unity and brotherhood.
The initiative, hailed as a dire need of the hour, seeks to ensure fiqah unity and communal harmony by enriching and reviving the teachings of Tasawwuf as propagated by Sufi saints since the time of Hazrat Bulbulshah and Hazrat Amir Kabir.
Participants of the conference were declared as the Majlis Amila core Rukun body of Tasawwuf, with devotees attached to 1,100 Sufi shrines in Kashmir becoming members of the General Council of “Tehreek e Dawat Tasawwuf.” The SajadahNisheens, Ulmas, Muftis, and Mujawirs were appointed as Chief Muntazim (Muntazim Aala) of their respective shrine ideologies, responsible for promoting the dynamic mission of educating people about Sufi Awliya’s teachings.
The conference concluded with the formation of Supreme Tasawwuf Committees, headed by revered scholars with rich backgrounds in the Tasawwuf of Awaliyas of Kashmir, including new generation scholars. The promotion of Sufi Kalams and the organization of conferences (Samvaads) on Saadat (Kashmiri Awaliyas and living scholars) were outlined as key initiatives.
Notable figures who endorsed the movement included Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, Adil Noorani, Younis Ahmad Haji Reshi, Mudasir Ahmad Qadri, Peerzada Syed Noorani Naqashbandi, and Peerzada Shahid Jeelani, among others. They emphasized the importance of unity under this spiritual movement, highlighting the legacy of Sufi saints in fostering love and harmony in the region.
