Ganderbal, Dec 23: The Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), celebrated National Mathematics Day on Friday.
During the event, presentations were made by students from various schools and Colleges of the valley and a model exhibition highlighting different Mathematical concepts was showcased.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah emphasized the role of Mathematics for the attainment of the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He advised the students to actively participate in competitive exams like the Mathematical Olympiads and assured them of the necessary guidance and support from the Department.
The model exhibition was followed by presentations. The session was chaired by Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, who congratulated the Department for conducting the event. He on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, assured the Department of full support to conduct activities, which lead to the development of mathematical science in Kashmir.
Earlier, the academic coordinator, Dr. G. M. Sofi highlighted the importance of Mathematics as one of the most important human endeavours.
In the best presentation competition, Bazila Jan, student of Knowledge Quaff Educational Institute Kachdoora, Shopian was declared the winner. Mir Arusha Iqbal, Govt. HSS Zainpora Shopian bagged the second prize while Jidat Reyaz, of R. P. School Malbagh bagged the 3rd slot. Faculty members of other departments were also present. Dr Imran played a role in making the programme a success.
Science Campus faculty participate in motivational session
Under the aegis of “Viksit Bharat@2047: Voice of Youth,” a team of faculty, scientists and scholars from Central University of Kashmir’s Departments of Biotechnology, Zoology, Chemistry and Botany participated in an invited programme followed by motivational lecture and interactive session at SKUAST-K.
The programme sensitised the faculty and young scholars about the success stories of famous Scientists, Technologists, Entrepreneurs and Academicians in tough challenges. The team was led by Director, Science Campus, Prof. Abid Hamid under the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath. Asst Prof. Dr Mohammad Lateef organized various components of the participation.
