Srinagar, July 17: In a major outreach effort to enhance access to essential government services, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Srinagar will deploy a Mobile Passport Van in Kargil from July 21 to July 25.As per a statement issued here, part of the Passport Seva Project (PSP) under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the initiative is designed to deliver transparent, timely and citizen-friendly passport services to remote and underserved areas. According to B.S. Rawat, Regional Passport Officer Srinagar, the mobile facility aims to bridge accessibility gaps for residents in far-flung areas like Kargil. “This is a proactive step to ensure that no citizen is deprived of essential documentation due to geographical challenges,” he said. The Mobile Passport Van will be stationed at the NIC VC Hall New Building, adjacent to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kargil, for the duration of the service. Residents seeking to avail themselves of the service must book an appointment through the official Passport Seva website (www.passportindia.gov.in) by selecting “Passport Van” as the service option and choosing a suitable time slot within the July 21–25. Applicants are advised to arrive at the venue at their scheduled time and can seek assistance from the on-site team operating the Mobile Passport Van. This initiative underscores the MEA’s commitment to inclusive governance and last-mile service delivery, bringing critical identification services to the doorstep of citizens in frontier districts like Kargil.
